Getting to know you some more.

As the readers of this site continue to grow (hi everybody!) I want to make sure I never allow you guys to turn into numbers.  My goal has always been to build relationships, not to collect readers.

With that in mind, I’d love to get to know you a bit!  Whether you’re an old friend or a new reader, take a look at the questions below and respond in the comments.

1. What’s a favorite non-social network website that you visit daily?

2. If you had to be stuck in a fallout shelter with one person (alive or dead, famous or friend) for a year, who would you choose?

3. What’s your favorite super hero movie?

4. Name one song I should go download right now.

5. What types of posts would you like to see more of on here?  Essays?  Original comics?  Best of lists?  Interviews?  More opinions on comics, film, or writing?  Inspirational type stuff?  Practical, “breaking-in” type stuff?

Thanks guys!  Look forward to hearing from you!

  1. 1. What’s a favorite non-social network website that you visit daily?

I’m enjoying the humor at cracked.com lately – sometimes not entirely to my tastes, but often a light mix of relevant and ridiculous commentary. And some hilarious memes come up in the photoplasty contests.

    2. If you had to be stuck in a fallout shelter with one person (alive or dead, famous or friend) for a year, who would you choose?

I have a very clear idea of who this is but I absolutely refuse to tell you. It would not, however, be that hard to guess.

    3. What’s your favorite super hero movie?

    Batman Begins

    4. Name one song I should go download right now.

Princess One Point Five – With Light There is Hope

    5. What types of posts would you like to see more of on here? Essays? Original comics? Best of lists? Interviews? More opinions on comics, film, or writing? Inspirational type stuff? Practical, “breaking-in” type stuff?

I like essays and best of lists. I’m also more into writing about film than writing about writing, most of the time.

    • Yes! Cracked is aMAZing.

You know, I rewatched Batman Begins recently. It had always been kind of “meh” in my mind. I mean, good, just not AS good as its sequels. But going back and watching it again, after seeing all three, I liked it a lot better. A fantastic trilogy that all weaves together nicely. It made the moments in the first one even more emotional and impactful.

I dig this “With Light There is Hope” song – my kind of thing.

I’m going to do a “best of essays” list just for you.

      • Can’t wait! Reply to this comment thread when you post the one you decided to write for me though, okay? I follow some frequently updated blogs and sometimes yours get buried in my list of recent posts in blogs I follow. Glad you liked the song, I found it on YouTube in a Pirates fan video… my favorite Pirates videos are goofy but this sentimental one works really well I think:

A lot of these YouTube fan art videos are made by teenagers, it blows my mind.

    • You MIGHT have uncovered my potential fallout shelter partner in this video. Hint: it’s not Johnny Depp.

  2. 1. Mostly blogs like this one. :) I’ve been trying to brush up on my writing and seeing what other creative people do or think is very inspirational to me.

    2. It’s hard to choose just one!

    3. The Avengers. A comic book come to life on the big screen.

    4. Kings and Queens by 30 Seconds to Mars. I actually listen to that on my way to work. Makes my morning trip sound more epic than it actually is.

    5. I love your essays, and I wouldn’t mind to read more of your opinions on writing!

    • Everyone is copping out on the fallout shelter question. I wanna get some goods!

OMG Avengers was SO much fun. Agree with your assessment… might be the first time you really got that true “comic book” feel in a movie. Pure imagination on screen.

You know, I wanna hate 30 Seconds to Mars, mostly because of Jordan Catalano, but this song is pretty epic.

Thank you! More will be coming soon.

  3. awww… you remember My So Called Life? That’s probably fair, but I agree, Kings and Queens is my favorite 30STM song, though I also really love Alibi.

No idea. deadspin or gawker probably..

    2. If you had to be stuck in a fallout shelter with one person (alive or dead, famous or friend) for a year, who would you choose?

    3. What’s your favorite super hero movie?
Kick-Ass I guess. None of them are my favorites.

    4. Name one song I should go download right now.
Anything off of the new From Indian Lakes album, Able Bodies.

    5. What types of posts would you like to see more of on here? Essays? Original comics? Best of lists? Interviews? More opinions on comics, film, or writing? Inspirational type stuff? Practical, “breaking-in” type stuff?
    Anything!

    • You really don’t like super hero movies? Is there a reason?

I like them. They just aren’t my favorites. I’m not a comic book reader, never have been so I enjoy the ones that are entertaining. The Avengers, X-Men 1 & 2, Kick-Ass, and I was a huge fan of Superman Returns but most others weren’t. I hate all the Spider-Man movies though. The Batman movies are okay the first watch but they are hard to keep sitting through.
